My first Saturday, so far, it's only 7 :)

So, this is my first day off here in Korea. :)

So this morning I took Luna off on her walk and there were definitely more people than during the week. Of course I was walking at 9:30 versus 7:30 and it was a bright, shiny day and a weekend morning and those may have contributed. Hmm, here's a view from my window now that the snow is gone.

So after Luna's walk, I updated the blog :) and found out there's a Mexican place right around the corner. Of course it is Korean Mexican food and thus, different. I ordered the chicken fajitas because they're hard to mess up and I figured it would give me a good gague(sp?) by which to judge the rest of the food. Now, the girls at a table across from me ordered tacos that looked pretty good. Another girl at the table ordered something weird and I mean weird, they were right across from me so i could see their table by simply looking forward. The food looked like it was moving. I mean, seriously I know Koreans don't eat food that's alive so I know it wasn't really moving, but it sure looked like it. Ugh. New thought....

I cleaned up my bathroom and kitchen and took some trash out and did some laundry. I bought one of these clothes hanging thingies to dry the clothes and I'll see how long it takes.

I also cleaned out the fridge so that hopefully I can now put stuff in there without it smelling like kimshi when it comes out. Hopefully.

My reward to myself for doing this was a trip to another place I discovered online, Skin Food. Cool name :) I've found that toiletries are very expensive at the grocery stores here and so you have to go to the specialty stores. And I mean really expensive, I as actually happy yesterday to find rose scented soap for $5 for a set of 4. Weird, huh. So Skin Food is awesome, cheap and it seems a good quality. I went into the body shop earlier on my way home from the Mexican restaurant and could have bought manybe 2 or 3 products for what I spent. I spent $65, but my skin's been looking kinda rough for awhile now.

The stress of moving to a foreign country, upset to my schedule, I keep forgetting to wash my face at night, stress of starting a new job, pollution of Bundang, the plane ride. Wow, when I think about it, its a surprise my skin isn't doing even worse.

So this is what I bought:

  • Black Sugar Mask
  • Kiwi Yogurt Mask
  • Tea Tree Cleansing Cream
  • Mango Soft Cream Wax
  • Peach Sake Emulsion
  • Moisture Egg Hair Pack(smells awesome)
  • Black Rasberry Eye Cream
  • Banana and Flower Baby Cleanser
  • Blue jojoba nail polish
  • orange nail polish
  • chesnut colored mascara

It's all pretty awesome and the girl threw in several handfuls of free sample and 2 boxes of cotton balls. :)

Now when I first arrived here, I was desparate for some face cleanser since I left mine behind at the last minute to get through security at the airport. Bleh, I remembered the less than 3 oz thing, but not the fill a quart-sized bag thing. Bummer so I left a lot of stuff back in Texas and will send for it as soon as I get my exact address from the director.

So I was desparate and bought this for $15

It hasn't broken me out, nor has it improved my skin's condition. Bummer, but I'll continue to use it and my new stuff and keep ya'll updated. This is a link to Skin Food's English site if anyone is interested.

Now, this has been my Saturday and I didn't spend it with any of my new coworkers because I'm such an anti-social person. Seriously, they invited me out with them last night and i told them I needed to clean my apartment. While true, they probably thought I was just blowing them off and I really didn't mean to. I wouldn't mind hanging with them, but I'm still sort of jetlagged and getting my apartment in order and stuff. Oh bother, I hope this doesn't become a problem. I also went to the Emart yesterday with one of them and he paid the cab there and I paid the return and the return was after dark so the fare was 1500 won more and I mentioned it offhand, not meaning anything other that wow, it's certainly more than expected. I really didn't mean anything, but he paid the driver the 1500 won difference before I'd even got my wallet out. I really didn't mean anything by the comment, sometimes I just don't have a powerful censor in my head of what I'm saying and just say whatever pops into my head. This is what happened with the apartment cleaning and taxi fare issues of yesterday. Oh well, I'm probably thinking about it way more than they are and what's done is done I suppose. :) So I need to get up early tomorrow for Luna's walk and to get ready for church. I bought a T-money card(subway card that you load money onto in order to take the subway or buses and save a few cents and not have to worry about change) for the subway tomorrow and tonight I'm using some of my new products so i can try to get all spiffed up to meet my new ward. I wonder what the makeup of the English-speaking ward in Seoul is?

I thought she wouldn't be here until next week. Is she here now?

Sallie! I loved reading all the updates on your blog and the pictures are great. Look at that snow! Is it a lot colder there than here? Being on the river there might be a lot of wind too?

Take care!

Not too much wind actually. Luna had a lot of fun this morning. I ricsked some off leash time since there was this nice lady with a lab and we let them play for about 5 minutes. I grabbed Luna's leash the moment she stopped playing because there was no way I was letting her loose.
